The total number of new industrial licenses that came into production in Abu Dhabi, the first quarter of 2020, amounted to about 18 licenses, distributed over 12 licenses in Abu Dhabi, and 3 in each of Al Ain and Al Dhafra respectively, with a total investment value of 746 million and 755 thousand dirhams.

This came in the report of the Industrial Activity Index in Abu Dhabi for the first quarter of 2020 issued by the Industrial Development Office of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, in which it indicated that the industrial licenses that entered into production in Abu Dhabi during the first quarter of this year achieved a growth of 12%. 5% compared to the same period last year, when it amounted to only 16 licenses. Strengthening the role of the sector, Mohamed Ali Al-Shurafa, Head of the Department, stressed the Abu Dhabi government's keenness to enhance the role of the industrial sector as one of the main engines for achieving sustainable economic development, by promoting foreign direct investments in the manufacturing sector by working to provide a package of incentives and competitive enablers in this sector. . He pointed out that the contribution of the manufacturing industries sector to the gross domestic product of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi during 2019 at constant prices amounted to 6, while the sector recorded a contribution of 12% to the non-oil GDP at constant prices during the same year.

According to the report of the Industrial Development Bureau, the total number of industrial licenses registered in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi until the end of the first quarter of 2020 amounted to about 1362 industrial licenses, of which 824 were production state licenses, and 538 were in production distributed among 1018 factories in Abu Dhabi, 299 in Al Ain, and 45 In Al Dhafra, the total number of industry pioneers 'licenses granted to the investor' and registered with the Industrial Development Office reached 220 licenses, bringing with it the total number of industrial licenses issued by the office to 1582 licenses. The industries in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi are distributed according to the type of activity into 11 industrial fields, where the construction and glass industries have registered 323 licenses, the metal industries 285 licenses, the rubber, plastic and fiberglass industries 166 licenses, the chemical industries 165 licenses, the food 147 licenses, then the equipment and machinery industry 138 licenses.

The wood and paper industry 114 licenses, general industries 91 licenses, electronic and electrical industries 56 licenses, the energy and sustainability industry 50 licenses, and finally the printing industry, textiles and leather garments industry 44 licenses, and media 3 licenses. Foreign investments, he added, that local investments in the industrial sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi recorded 78% of the total investments at about 431 billion and 180 million dirhams, while foreign investments in the sector recorded 121 billion and 430 million dirhams, including 22 percent. Al-Balushi stated that the licenses that entered production during The first quarter of this year included 3 licenses for food industries, 3 metal industries, 3 construction and glass industries, 2 equipment and machinery industries, 2 general industries, and one license for each of the textiles, leather garments, rubber, plastic, wood and paper industries, chemical, electronic and electrical industries. The report stated that the licenses transferred from industry leaders to under production recorded 21 industrial licenses during the first quarter of this year, 16 of which were in Abu Dhabi, 3 in Al Ain, and two in Al Dhafra, with a total investment of 542 million.

The activities of the licenses under construction registered in the first quarter are focused on 9 general industry licenses, 4 metallic industry, 2 rubber and plastic industries, and one license for each of the construction, glass, food, textiles, clothing, leather, wood, paper, chemical and sustainable energy industries. Industry Pioneers The report also mentioned that the Industrial Development Bureau registered about 37 licenses for industry pioneers, "the initial license to facilitate investment procedures and converting to a license under construction", with a total expected investment value of 136 million dirhams and 960 thousand dirhams.

According to the report of the Industrial Development Bureau, the movement of industrial licensing procedures that were completed during the first quarter of 2020 amounted to 6985 transactions, including 6216 customs exemptions, 159 renewal of production licenses, 37 issuance of new industrial licenses "industry pioneers", and 65 renewals of industrial licenses under construction. 418 transactions for technical adjustments, 51 transactions for administrative amendments, 28 transactions for payment of fees, and others.
