The Industrial Development Office of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development announced the implementation of the Abu Dhabi Local Content Program in about 1,244 tenders, which were submitted by governmental and semi-government entities and companies, with a total value of 15 billion dirhams, through the procurement projects that were submitted during the first quarter. The head of the department, Muhammad Ali Muhammad Al-Shurafa Al Hammadi, said in a statement yesterday that “applying local content to bidding contributes to encouraging companies that deal with government agencies in Abu Dhabi to invest in the local market in the emirate in particular and the state in general, and it will benefit Private companies, which invest in national products, local expertise, and national cadres, are largely part of a package of huge development projects. He emphasized that government spending is one of the most important pillars of the economy, and is the main catalyst to revitalize economic and social production, as the Abu Dhabi Local Content Program contributes to encouraging companies to continue increasing productivity and achieving added value for the local product. The head of the department explained that the program aims to direct this spending towards developing local products and services in all their components, at the level of the local economy of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Department, Rashid Abdul Karim Al Balushi, stated that the Department of Industry Development Office of the Department carried out, during the first quarter of this year, a number of awareness workshops for about 60 governmental and semi-governmental entities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, concerned with implementing the Abu Dhabi Local Content Program within its projects and tenders Which will be launched during the current year, and it has also educated more than 1500 representatives of the supply companies, while continuing to organize awareness workshops through social media and remote communication systems, as a precaution to the current situation.
