The electronics industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors in Abu Dhabi and a significant contributor to the UAE's economy. With an impressive share of 16% of Abu Dhabi's contribution to the UAE's overall electronics production share, the UAE imports USD 36 billion worth of electronics, reflecting the growing demand for high-tech products in the region.
The electronics industry's contribution to the Abu Dhabi economy goes beyond production values and imports, as the sector plays a crucial role in employment generation, with a high-skilled employment share of 41.4%. The industry's continued growth is expected to create more jobs and attract skilled workers, further boosting the sector's competitiveness and contribution to the economy.
The Abu Dhabi government's Industrial Strategy, with an investment of AED10bn, will more than double the size of the manufacturing sector, increase non-oil exports, and create new jobs, further strengthening the competitiveness of the electronics industry in the region.
The electronics equipment industry comprises a range of activities(1) dealing with the manufacture of computers, computer peripherals, communications equipment, and similar electronic products, as well as the manufacture of components for such products. This sector also contains the manufacture of consumer electronics, measuring, testing, navigating, and control equipment, irradiation, medical and electrotherapeutic equipment, optical instruments and equipment, and the manufacture of magnetic and optical media.
